5 Outsourced IT Trends to Look for in 2022

Gartner, Inc. has projected that IT spending will reach $4.5 trillion globally in 2022, which would be an increase of 5.5% from the previous year. As more people continue to shop online and technology becomes an even more integral part of many industries, it’s no surprise that companies are expanding their IT operations and often turning to IT managed service partners to help.

As 2021 ends, here are some IT services and trends you can expect to see in the coming year.

Remote Work Continues to Expand

After many people across the world were obligated to work from home once the pandemic hit in 2020, companies realized there are often more benefits than disadvantages to remote work. Companies have continued to thrive without a full-time central office, and many are considering ridding themselves of an office space all together to cut costs.

Remote work offers greater flexibility and can often increase productivity as employees can work on a schedule that fits with their own lives. But, with increased remote work needs a greater need for IT services like cloud-based storage that allows employees to access documents from anywhere with Wi-Fi. You may want to speak with an IT consulting agency before becoming a completely remote company to ensure that you have everything you need to make the transition as smooth as possible.

IT Spending Will Increase Globally

IT services spending has increased across the world every year since 2016, and 2022 is not expected to be an exception. Part of the reason for the growing demand is that we rely on technology more than ever. Companies need to keep up with the latest tech features and offerings as well as meet compliance standards. Many also consider IT managed services to be more valuable and cost effective because you’re working directly with a highly experienced team. Although working with an IT managed services partner often cuts costs for companies, the more companies decide to use these services, the more IT spending will increase throughout the world.

More Companies Will Switch to Cloud-Based Services

Along with the increased remote work trend inevitably comes the increased move to cloud-based services. Getting away from in-house servers allows companies and their employees to have greater access to data from anywhere with a Wi-Fi connection. Cloud-based services are also cheaper as companies don’t need to invest in expensive hardware themselves. If you’re still utilizing on-premises servers, it’s useful to consider how cloud-based platforms could benefit your company and reduce spending.

The eCommerce Industry Continues to Grow

According to DigitalCommerce360, U.S. spending on eCommerce grew by 6.8% in Q3 of 2020 alone. During the pandemic, online shopping spiked because many brick-and-mortar stores were forced too temporarily close. Although online sales have trended upward in recent years, it seems like shoppers have grown even more fond of online shopping over in-person, which leads many economists to predict that the eCommerce industry will only become larger in 2022.

AI Will Become More Prevalent

Artificial intelligence has already become an important part of the IT and eCommerce world with robo-customer support options, personalized product suggestions, and virtual showrooms. This type of technology has been slowly growing in recent years, but with more people shopping online, it’s expected that AI will be implemented in new and more exciting ways in the years to come.
