A scientific way of learning about our health condition is to have a blood test and then ask an expert to interpret the results. Through BeWell, NearShore staff get a blood test that obtains 12 different data from one blood sample. The requirements to get this blood test are: a) No alcohol intake one day before the test, b) A fat-free light dinner c) fast of 12 hours, although it is allowed to drink natural water during the fast. The results are then sent to Monica Torres, who is the nutritionist of the company, and she analyzes the results obtained. After that, she talks to every person about his/her results and make recommendations if applicable.
In Puebla, there are over 90 people working at NearShore and 42 of them signed up for the test. On April 30th and May 2nd, personnel from a lab called “Chopo” went to the office to obtain blood samples. The way to draw a sample is through a needle from a vein. The blood test measured the levels of glucose, urea, creatinine, uric acid, cholesterol, triglycerides, albumin, bilirubin, GOT (glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase), alkaline phosphatase, HDL (high density lipoprotein) and calcium.
The Chopo lab sent the results days later. Then, the results were reviewed by Monica. She called the people who took the test and talked to them about their results and what they reveal about their general health. If people wanted advice, she would provide them with a diet or fitness suggestion. In case some of the levels were concerning, she would recommend visiting a medical specialist to have proper care.
It is recommended to get this biochemical analysis every 6 months. This is the second time that personnel from Puebla have their blood test. The first time was on August 2017. In Merida, the employees who want their biochemical analysis notify Monica Torres (skype live:tgmonny) and make an appointment at the lab “Biomedicos.”
Being healthy is an important part of a person’s life. And here at NearShore, we are proactive in helping our employees BeWell.
